In City Builders Camp, students become young architects, engineers, and urban planners working together to design and construct their very own model city neighborhood. Using recycled and found materials as building supplies, campers will transform everyday objects into imaginative structures while exercising ingenuity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Throughout the week, children will explore how real cities are designed, from the first blueprint to the finished building. Campers will learn about architecture, engineering, and urban planning while considering the needs of the people who live and work in their city.
Throughout the week, students will: 🔨 Design and build structures using recycled materials 🔨 Learn how blueprints and models translate into real-world buildings 🔨 Explore principles of engineering, design, and architecture 🔨 Collaborate to plan roads, parks, public spaces, and infrastructure 🔨 Discuss the role of city government, resources, and community needs 🔨 Investigate sustainable development and “green city” solutions Campers will be challenged to think about environmental impact as they design eco-friendly systems for transportation, energy, and waste—encouraging thoughtful innovation and responsibility. The week culminates in a child-led tour of the city, where families are invited to explore the neighborhood, learn about each structure, and hear directly from the young designers who brought the city to life.
